A clothing store in Ljubljana, set in a strikingly narrow and elongated space with vaulted ceilings, is transformed into a CBD shop. During the renovation, the space is cleared of all distracting elements. The central intervention is a new wall cladding of laminated Tilly boards, which acts as an infrastructural element. Its perforations, combined with a system of simple wooden brackets and shelves, allow the shelves to be freely mounted and rearranged. Technical equipment and passageways are concealed behind the cladding, while merchandise and display cases hang from it. At the same time, the cladding’s pronounced materiality and horizontality accentuate the high vaulted ceilings, which come to the fore as the defining quality of the space.
